How automatic Twitch clippers work

Live IRC monitoring
While a channel is live, HighlightPilot’s worker participates in Twitch chat (TwitchIO) and tracks message timing per channel.
Baselines and dual detectors
A spike-resistant baseline adapts to normal chat pace. Sustained and burst detectors look for meaningful lifts in rate, with unique-chatter and phrase-share checks.
Spam and hype gates
Copy-paste floods are blocked by default; configurable hype phrases and emote reactions can still pass. Warmup and cooldown reduce double-fires.
Helix clip creation
Qualified spikes call Twitch’s clip API with your connected account. Clips are real Twitch objects — not scraped MP4s stored on our servers.
Learning from Keep / Miss
When you mark a clip useful or not, HighlightPilot adjusts per-channel threshold offsets so future detection better matches your taste.
