Twitch chat is most active around 18:00 UTC · 2 PM ET · 11 AM PT and quietest around 08:00 UTC · 4 AM ET · 1 AM PT — about 3.1× less chat.

The busiest three-hour stretch is 17:00–20:00 UTC (1 PM–4 PM ET). Average viewership peaks in the same hour.

Sunday has the most active chat of the week; Friday is the quietest.

What this means for your schedule

  • Peak hours have the most viewers and the most competition. Big channels dominate the directory at peak. If you are growing, test going live one to two hours before the peak so you are already live when viewers arrive.
  • Quiet hours are not dead hours. Fewer streams are live, so a smaller channel is easier to find in its category.
  • Consistency beats a perfect slot. Pick a time you can hold every week; viewers return to schedules they can predict.
  • Check your own numbers. Your audience’s time zone matters more than the Twitch-wide average. Compare these hours with your Twitch analytics.

Methodology

HighlightPilot Radar samples live Twitch channels on its public map every ten minutes, recording chat velocity (messages per second) and viewer counts. Weekly reports roll those samples into hour-of-day and day-of-week averages; this page combines the latest reports, weighting each by its number of samples. Radar follows the most-watched live streams, so it skews toward larger channels — treat it as a picture of where Twitch’s attention is, not a census of every stream.

What is the best time to stream on Twitch?

There is no single best time for every channel. Chat across the channels Radar tracks is most active in the peak hours shown above, but those hours also have the most competition. Smaller channels often do better slightly before or after the peak, when viewers are online but fewer big streams are live.

What time zone are these times in?

All raw data is in UTC. The tables also show Eastern (ET) and Pacific (PT) times using the current daylight-saving offset.

How often is this page updated?

Every Monday, when the new weekly Radar report publishes. The page combines the most recent four weekly reports.

Which channels are included?

Channels on HighlightPilot’s live Radar map, which follows the most-watched live Twitch streams at each moment. It skews toward larger channels and is not a census of all of Twitch.
